This summer, Seguin will be filled with the sounds of regular baseball games at Smokey Joe Williams Field, played by a Texas Collegiate League Team. Lovingly named the Seguin River Monsters, the summer collegiate baseball team consists of players who are professional prospects from colleges throughout the country.
Seguin residents Mike and Kandice Gigliotti are the owners of the team and the ones to thank for making Seguin’s summer baseball dreams come true. They had the vision and they knew that Smokey Joe Williams Field would be the perfect location.
“We are big baseball fans,” says Kandice. “We were excited for the opportunity to bring such an attraction to our community for the summer. And we hope that Seguin comes out and enjoys the home games.”
So far, the Seguin River Monsters have signed players from Tennessee, Florida, and all across the state of Texas. Players will have the opportunity to showcase and improve their skills in a wholesome, minor-league type atmosphere at Smokey Joe Williams Field.
“Seguin is excited to host a Texas Collegiate League Team,” says Kyle Kramm, Director of Main Street and CVB with the City of Seguin. “The Seguin River Monsters will certainly draw families from across Central Texas to enjoy a fun, summer baseball game in our community.”
There will be 24 home games this summer in June and July. The full schedule, season tickets, merchandise, and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.seguinrivermonsters.com.
